NOTICE: Shire Hall and Picton fire hall to re-open May 19

Picton —

Following the province’s announcement that additional workplaces can reopen, Shire Hall (332 Picton Main Street) and the Picton fire hall (8 McDonald Drive) will reopen on Tuesday, May 19 to once again serve the public.

The offices will be open between 8:30 am and 3 pm, Monday to Friday with limited services available. Residents will be able to pay a bill or purchase a burn permit.

To ensure the safety of the public and staff in these facilities, the municipality will:

• Limit the number of members of the public in the offices at any one time to enable physical distancing
• Undertake increased cleaning and disinfecting of common contact points and restrict access within the buildings

The municipality is asking residents to make only essential visits to Shire Hall and the Picton fire hall. The public can pay a variety of bills, access services, and buy burn permits online without having to visit a municipal office. More information is on the County website

If you think you have been exposed to COVID-19 or are exhibiting symptoms, do not enter a municipal facility and contact Customer Service for assistance by calling 613.476.2148 or 613.962.9108 or emailing info@pecounty.on.ca.

All other municipal offices, arenas, museums, and town halls remain closed to the public at this time under provincial order.

Update on recreation facilities

Recreation facilities are closed with the exception of tennis/pickleball courts, which will open on Tuesday, May 19. To enable physical distancing, a maximum of five users are allowed in the court area at one time. Players must stay 6 feet / 2 metres apart from each other at all times.

All municipal boat launches are open, with the exception of the Wellington boat launch, which will remain closed given that the Wellington Beach is closed under provincial orders. Access to the boat launch at that location will be blocked. The boat launch at the Wellington Marina (151 Wellington Main Street) is open.

Municipal marinas in Picton and Wellington are closed. A proposal will come forward at the May 26 Council meeting that will inform the approach to reopening the municipal marinas.
